They had a lot of these sneakers on sale in the women's section of the store at DSW. I am a size 9 and fell in love with Nike sneakers over 25 years ago, so I tried on a size 9 and immediately purchased them. I love the color, the comfort, the soft sole, and the light arch on the insole. They also breathe. The sneaker is on the narrow side. At checkout, I paid $47.96 for them and noticed they rang up as men's sneakers, code 844737-999. I thought I was mistaken because they were all over the women's sale section.
After getting them home, I did some research and am shocked that these are men's. However, they fit more like a women's sneaker to me. There is about one inch of extra room in the toe but the width is narrow. I take a size 9 normally and do often buy men's hiking books but I have to downsize to a 7-1/2 or 8 in them. Therefore, if you are a man looking at these sneakers, unless you have narrow feet I would be a little leery of the size. Since my toe comes up to the mesh portion of the shoe, it is probably true to size length-wise but not width-wise.
I attached four pictures of the ones I bought at DSW. The first picture is of the code number inside the tongue of the shoe.
On another note I also contacted DSW, Nike, and Academy Sports Outdoors to double-check that these were indeed men's sneakers. DSW said that they put them in the women's section because they thought they were women's sneakers due to the color. Nike confirmed they were men's sneakers and never heard any complaint that they were too small. I also checked with Academy Sports Outdoors who suggested these may have a smaller base and that may be why they fit like a women's shoe. I attached their email in the comments section of this review. In the end, these are a men's shoe and supposedly sized like a men's shoe.
In summary, I love these. They are so comfortable to wear and walk in. They are also good for running but I don't run. I highly recommend them but only if they'll fit. Seeing the price on Amazon, it looks like I got them for a steal.
PS These are the Nike Women's Free Rn OC Multi Color/Multi Color Running Shoe
that look similar but it wasn't what I bought.
